Taitung “Machiya Posong” Connects Dining and Accommodation, Offering Unique One-Night-Two-Meals Experience
Machiya Posong, a restored 1939 Japanese wooden dormitory complex operated by FDC International, launches multiple packages combining lodging and dining to allow travelers to enjoy the historical charm of traditional Japanese townhouses while savoring a fusion of local and international flavors.
The youth hostel at Machiya Posong offers a “One-Night-One-Meal Italian Pasta Package” that includes one night’s stay plus a pasta set meal served at the local “Posong-Yuciren Happy Waffle” restaurant in Posong, featuring four different pasta flavors to choose from. The standalone Machiya townhouse is also available for full-house rental with pasta meals, ideal for couples or small groups.
For those seeking a more ceremonial dining experience, a “One-Night-Two-Meals Roast Duck Package” at the Locomotive Depot Tea House 1917 is available. This includes two local breakfasts and a Cantonese-style cherry wood roasted duck served three ways: duck pancake rolls, specially crafted roast duck sauce, and snow vegetable duck soup with rice noodles, delivering a multi-layered classic Chinese roast duck feast.
Machiya Posong, planned and operated by FDC International, is a key site for promoting deep travel and cultural preservation. By revitalizing historic architecture and linking accommodations with local culture, it invites travelers to explore the city’s textures by foot and to experience Taitung’s cultural richness through its dining and architecture.
This summer, besides searching for Doraemon’s footprints and joining the hot air balloon festival in Taitung, visitors can also engage in a meaningful dialogue with the land of Taiwan through these authentic cultural experiences.
