FDC International Launches “Machiya Posong” Brand Reviving Japanese-Style Townhouses and Cultural Hostels

As part of its diversified business development, FDC International has taken part in the Taitung County Government’s public bidding for the management of the “Taitung Beicho Japanese-Style Dormitory Cluster.” After nearly a year of preparation, the site will reopen as a collection of standalone Japanese-style townhouses and a cultural creative hostel under the new brand name “Machiya Posong.” Covering 2.1 hectares in total, the property features eight Japanese-style machiya and will officially open to the public on February 15, offering travelers to Taitung a fresh and unique lodging experience.

The name “Posong” comes from the Amis language, meaning “a vast and fertile place suitable for living and farming.” During the Japanese colonial period, Taitung’s city center was renamed “Takaramachi” (Treasure Town). Drawing on this historical context, FDC International has breathed new life into the wooden townhouse cluster, naming it “Machiya Posong” to honor its heritage. From a sustainability and ESG perspective, the revitalization preserves cultural assets while inviting more visitors to connect with local traditions and history.
